Terms of Service
Last updated October 13, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and the operators of BetMate (“BetMate,” “we,” “us”) covering your use of the BetMate website and apps (the “service”). By creating an account or using the service you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the service.
1. What BetMate is, and what it isn't
BetMate is a social tool for hosting events, playing party games, and keeping track of friendly bets between people who know each other. BetMate is not a sportsbook, casino, or gambling operator. We never accept, hold, transfer, or pay out money or anything of value. We never take a side in a bet, set the terms of a bet, or charge fees on bets. Any stake you agree to, whether money, drinks, a dare, or bragging rights, is a private arrangement between you and the other people involved. BetMate doesn't enforce, guarantee, or collect on any bet, and the “paid” and “done” markers in the app are only records that users keep for themselves.
2. Eligibility and local law
- You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live if that's higher.
- You're responsible for making sure your use of BetMate, and any bet you make with another person, is legal where you live. Some places restrict or prohibit wagering between individuals, especially for money. Where that applies, stick to non-monetary stakes or don't use the service.
- You may not use BetMate where it's prohibited by law, or if we've previously removed your account.
3. Drinking, dares, and party games
- Some games and group bets suggest drinking. Only drink if you're of legal drinking age where you are (21 in the United States), and only if you choose to. Every punishment can be swapped for a non-alcoholic one, and nobody is ever obligated to drink or do a dare.
- Don't pressure anyone, don't drink and drive, and don't do dares that are dangerous, illegal, or that someone hasn't freely agreed to.
- You are responsible for your own choices and safety. BetMate isn't responsible for what happens at events or during games.
4. Your account
- Keep your sign-in methods secure. You're responsible for activity on your account.
- Give accurate information and don't impersonate anyone.
- If you sign in with Google or Apple, their terms also apply to that sign-in. If you sign in with a phone number, you agree to receive one-time verification codes by text message. Message and data rates may apply.
5. Your content
You keep ownership of what you post, such as event details, posts, bets, and rules. You give BetMate a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, display, and share that content with the people you've chosen to share it with, only as needed to run the service. You're responsible for having the right to post what you post.
6. Acceptable use
Don't use BetMate to:
- harass, threaten, or exploit anyone, or post unlawful, hateful, or sexually explicit content;
- run a gambling business, take bets from the public, or charge anyone a fee or cut on bets;
- bet on outcomes you can improperly influence, or involve anyone under 18;
- spam, scrape, reverse-engineer, attack, or overload the service, or get around its security or rate limits.
7. Odds and market data
Sports odds are derived from third-party prediction markets (such as Kalshi and Polymarket) and may be delayed, inaccurate, or unavailable. BetMate isn't affiliated with or endorsed by those providers. “Fair odds” are informational estimates, not advice. Odds on games already in progress change quickly, so in-game bets stay open only for a short window. You always choose and confirm your own odds before a bet locks.
8. Results and disputes between users
Results are confirmed by the people in each bet, decided by an event host, or taken from the linked market's published result. BetMate records outcomes as reported but doesn't verify them and isn't a party to any disagreement between users.
9. Suspension and termination
You can stop using BetMate and delete your account at any time from Profile → Settings. We may suspend or remove accounts or content that break these terms, create legal risk, or harm other users, and we may change or discontinue features of the service.
10. Disclaimers
The service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't promise the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data won't be lost.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, BetMate and its operators won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any losses arising from bets, games, events, or interactions between users. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the past 12 months (currently nothing) or US$50. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you.
12. Indemnity
You agree to defend and hold harmless BetMate and its operators from claims, losses, and costs (including reasonable legal fees) that arise from your content, your bets or events, or your breaking these terms or the law.
13. Changes and general terms
We may update these terms. If a change is material, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect, and continuing to use BetMate afterward means you accept the update. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Not enforcing a term isn't a waiver of it. These terms are the entire agreement between you and BetMate about the service.
